BANNER-ASTRONOMIA

See what happens to light when it passes from one material to another and how we use that to make lenses. Get to know the lens, your eyes, and the telescopes. Look at the Sun through a telescope with a special daytime H-alpha filter. Learn about the Hubble and Spitzer space telescopes and their contributions to astronomy. Use a cheap or free program or app to identify what you might see in the sky. Use light to identify materials in faraway places and know their temperatures. Learn about the Earth, Sun, and other objects in the sky. Look at the night sky with binoculars and telescopes. Each workshops lasts one day, with an observing session at night. These worksops are free for teachers, middle and high school student groups, and college students. Beginning in Fall 2015, reserve your place via lased.upra.edu (limited space). A museum style related exhibition will also be prepared and available for viewing. Come to the exhibition, starting in Fall 2015 (hours to be announced at lased.upra.edu) or see it when you come to another activity at ISMuL or AEL.
